Dr. Merav Shmueli

Merav is a human rights lawyer specializing in gender equality, with extensive experience in both government and civil society. She previously served as Israel’s National Anti-Trafficking Coordinator at the Ministry of Justice and later led the Women, Peace and Security project at Itach-Maaki – Women Lawyers for Social Justice, promoting the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 in Israel. From 2017 to 2024, she was Director of Policy and Legislation at Women's Spirit, an organization that advances social and economic justice for women who have survived abuse. Merav obtained her doctorate at the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto. She joined the Barak Leadership Center as its first CEO in September 2024.
